4 Amtrak Vacations to Explore This Summer

4 Amtrak Vacations to Explore This Summer

We believe that no vacation day should be left behind. We believe that the kids, whether school age or college bound should build lasting memories with family. We believe that bestie adventures, couples getaways and solo explorations are something to be celebrated. And we believe that sometimes planning those adventures should be done by us. Meet Amtrak Vacations.

With Amtrak Vacations, all you have to do is choose your own adventure. Really, that’s it! Our vacations include the train, the accommodations and of course the adventure. If this is new to you, then read on and peek at a few we have to offer.

1. Grand Canyon Family Adventure

Grand in every way possible, this natural wonder is just an Amtrak trip away. From its huge size (it’s more than a million acres!) to the colors painted by the eroded sedimentary rocks, you’ll marvel at just how unforgettable the view is. Discover the inner canyon at 4,000 feet deep, go whitewater rafting, or even, ride a mule. The Grand Canyon isn’t all that is in store for you with this explorer vacation. Come experience the historic southwest and snap some Instagram worthy family selfies.
Route: Southwest Chief

2. Getaway to Glacier National Park

Explore the splendor of the American West from the comfort of our observation car before stepping off the train into a park made to preserve over a million acres of lakes, rugged peaks and forests. Glacier National Park boasts more than 700 miles of trails and has a dedicated stop along our Empire Builder route nestled in the Northern Rocky Mountains. But that’s not all. You’ll end your trip in Seattle with a two day hop-on/hop-off tour that will ensure you’ll soak in all The Emerald City has to offer.
Route: Empire Builder

3. Jazz Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll

Got rhythm? This nine-day rail journey launches in Muddy Waters’ Chicago where you’ll sample the city’s sounds and fare. You’ll then move on to Memphis, the birthplace of Rock ‘N’ Roll, which wouldn’t be complete without a tour of Graceland. The last stop on this soul train is New Orleans, where you’ll experience great food and feel the beat of Bourbon Street. Warning, with all this music love flowing, spontaneous sing-alongs and dance parties may occur.
Route: City of New Orleans

4.Southern Heritage

Start in historic Washington, DC and travel south on our Northeast Regional to explore the history, sites and food of the south.  With stops in Williamsburg, Charleston and Savannah, this Amtrak Vacation will let you find out what that southern hospitality is all about. Choose this this trip and get ready to learn and explore.
Routes: Northeast Regional, Silver Service/Palmetto
