Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del) visited our Wilmington Maintenance Facility to see the Amtrak Cities Sprinter (ACS-64), our new and more powerful locomotive coming to the Northeast and Keystone Corridors. The Siemens-manufactured ACS-64 is undergoing a portion of its testing in Delaware.
But if you're really Team Train like us (we know you are!), you'll want to check out this video featuring Amtrak Chief Mechanical Officer Mario Bergeron where he drops knowledge about the new powerful locomotive.

Don't laugh now, what does that red extension do on the top of the new locomotives? It looks like its optional and can be controlled by the engineer!
@vernwash2012 It's called a pantagraph. It collects power from the overhead wire to power the traction motors and Head End Power.
