March’s Train-Worthy Events
Do you hear that? Those are the birds chirping and flowers blooming because spring is finally here! Ok, slight disclaimer, spring isn’t here yet and most likely won’t show up (we’re looking at you New England) for awhile. But that won’t dull our excitement for warmer days saturated with sunny skies.
March means spring break fun and the beginning of warm weather Amtrak adventures. If you’re not sure where to start with your spring planning, no worries. We pulled together a few train-worthy March events to get you and yours excited for spring.
Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade: March 14
Grab your green sweaters and shamrock glasses because it’s almost time for the Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Widly known as the 2nd largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in America, the parade is only one part of a larger celebration in Chicago. Locals celebrating the holiday also participate in a corned beef and cabbage dinner and the annual dyeing of the river. Yes, even the river is green.
Routes: Capitol Limited, Empire Builder, and More
South by Southwest (SXSW): March 13 – 22
For ten days, Austin transforms into SXSW, an interactive music and film festival that is anything but ordinary. Big brands, small bands and film enthusiasts migrate to southern Texas to kick back and discover the next big thing. Whether you just want to listen to great music in a cool venue or network to show off your big idea, our trains want to be your ride. SXSW is only a few weeks away, so book soon, rest up and get ready for an enjoyable ride.

March Madness: March 13 – 29
Easily one of the most exciting months on the sport’s calendar. March Madness means a month’s worth of nail biters, buzzer beaters and best of all bracketology! This year as the country’s top collegiate players fan out to tournament venues, we can tell you that our trains can take you to nearly all of them. From Jacksonville to Pittsburgh, Portland and Houston, Amtrak can be your ride to the big dance. Plan ahead so when Selection Sunday comes around all you have to do is book, celebrate then explore.
