Amtrak and America’s National Parks: Trails & Rails
In addition to the more than 260 national parks lands, monuments and historic sites Amtrak can take you to, did you know on select routes we bring the park experience aboard the train?
About the Trails & Rails Program
The Trails & Rails Program is a partnership formed between Amtrak and the National Park Service to provide passengers with an opportunity to learn more about a region’s natural and cultural heritage while aboard the train. Routes that offer the Trails & Rails Program feature an onboard volunteer ranger that narrates the program (what you see out the window) on select segments of a route.
The best part? Each presentation is as unique as the rangers presenting, which means even aboard the same train you’ll be treated to a unique and memorable experience. Depending on the route you are traveling on, you may have the opportunity to listen to a ranger share stories of local history or examine artifacts found along the route. You may even encounter programs that feature regional music or rangers dressed in historical attire.
How to Experience Amtrak’s Trails & Rails Program
The Trails & Rails Program is an onboard experience included in your ticket at no additional cost! The program is offered on select routes across the Amtrak system, so be sure to check the program schedule to see if you’ll be in for a special treat while aboard the train.
