Amtrak x National Police Week 2019

Amtrak x National Police Week 2019

A message from Amtrak Police Department’s Chief of Police, Neil Trugman:

President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week.

Each year, members of the law enforcement community come to Washington, D.C., to honor the families and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice serving and protecting their communities.

The names of over 21,000 federal, state and local law enforcement officers are inscribed on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, located in Washington, D.C.  This year, 144 names will be added to the wall.

The Amtrak Police Department will stand with agencies from around the world to honor those officers we lost in 2018.

Each day, the members of the Amtrak Police Department begin their tour of duty with their mission of “Protecting America’s Railroad” and assuring that all of our passengers arrive to their destinations safely.
