Preparing for Summer at New York Penn Station

Preparing for Summer at New York Penn Station

This summer, Amtrak will continue its work on a series of major infrastructure initiatives to make New York’s Penn Station safer and more reliable for the millions of passengers who pass through its doors each year.  To accommodate this work, Amtrak will operate a modified schedule from July 10 – September 1.

Before you head to the station, here’s what you need to know to stay informed this summer.

Know How to Check Train Status

The easiest way to check the status of your train is to visit the “Check Train Status” feature on the Amtrak.com home page. You’ll need to know your train number, as well as the date and the destination to use this feature. You can also check the status of your train at anytime using the Amtrak mobile app.

Sign Up for Delay Notifications

Whether you’re traveling yourself or just picking up someone from the station, stay informed with delay alert notifications via email and text message. When booking travel, customers can also opt-in to receive delay notifications.

Ask Questions, Get Answers

During the renewal period, Amtrak Ambassadors will be on hand to help you navigate both Penn Station and other stations along the Northeast Corridor. If you see them, say hello!

We’re working hard to reduce the impact of this renewal work on the many people who travel along the Northeast Corridor. We thank you for your patience as we strive to return Penn Station’s infrastructure to a state of good repair. To learn more about the New York Penn Station Renewal project, visit amtrak.com/NYPrenewal.
