We have created the website futureofrail.amtrak.com to keep you updated on our ongoing, multifaceted modernization program, and we will continue to share more details as they become available.

A large part of our latest efforts includes producing the next generation of high-speed rail, which will replace the current Acela Express equipment and start service in 2021. The new train will feature increased capacity and more amenities, including:

• 40% more trainsets to offer half-hourly service between Washington, DC and New York City during peak times and hourly service between New York City and Boston
• 1/3 more seats, while preserving the existing spaciousness and high-end comfort
• Improved Wi-Fi access
• Personal outlets, USB ports and adjustable reading lights at every seat
• Enhanced food service car offering easy access and greater selection

We’re also making investments to update our stations, infrastructure and facilities. We look forward to sharing more as we keep working to improve the overall Amtrak travel experience in the years ahead.
