Leaf Peepers Unite, the Great Dome Car is Back

Leaf Peepers Unite, the Great Dome Car is Back

Leaf peeping season is upon us and the Great Dome is  back on the rails. Traveling on the Downeaster through September 18 than on the Adirondack service from September 29 through Nov. 1, this exclusive service is a unique way to experience New England’s colorful fall foliage.

The Great Dome features an upper level with windows on all side (and the roof!) and is the only car of its kind in the entire Amtrak Fleet. Avid leaf peepers have the opportunity to glide down the tracks and gaze up at the trees as the beautiful fall landscape receives its annual pops of color.  Seriously, is there anything on Earth that sounds more relaxing?

Now for the insider info: There is no additional charge for riding the Downeaster or Adirondack services during this period and seating in the Great Dome car is unreserved. To book tickets for the train, simply head to Amtrak.com and reserve the day and time that fits your schedule.

The autumn run of the Great Dome car is the perfect opportunity from some Instagramming. So be sure to tag your pics #Amtrak to join the conversation!
