Katie’s Acela Express Experience

Katie’s Acela Express Experience

We asked Katie, a NYC-based fashion and lifestyle blogger at Katie’s Bliss, to take Acela Express First Class and Cardinal Business Class with us on her round-trip from NYC to Charlottesville. Check out the slideshow above for Katie’s pics, and read her take on why our high-speed rail service along the Northeast Corridor is the best way to travel.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, and where your #AmtrakAdventure took you.

I’m a 25-year-old lifestyle blogger based in New York City. For the past five years I’ve enjoyed writing about fashion, beauty and travel. I went to Charlottesville, Virginia to celebrate one of my best friend’s bachelorette party! We had a blast touring Virginia wine country, located conveniently close to the Charlottesville Amtrak station.

What was your favorite part of Acela Express First Class?

I loved the ease and comfort of riding on Acela Express First Class. Whenever I travel I have to work, so I appreciated having the space to setup my laptop and belongings. The attentive service from the staff was incredible as well. Meals and drinks were included in my ticket and I couldn’t resist indulging in a breakfast omelette and drinking a mimosa!

What was Business Class on the Cardinal like?

After a long and busy weekend visiting friends, it was an amazing feeling sinking into a large leather reclining seat with a footrest. The Cardinal Business Class cabin was so quiet and perfect for recharging on my way home back to New York.

Can you give us any good NYC recommendations?

If you visit New York definitely make sure you tour the Freedom Tower and the exhibits at One World Trade Center. From there you can easily visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island as well! Some of my favorite things to do include walking around Madison Square Park (perfect spot to see the Flatiron Building) and renting a Citi Bike! For restaurants I’d suggest trying Jack’s Wife Freda for bunch, Genuine Liquorette for drinks and The Smith for dinner.

Would you recommend Amtrak for travel up and down the East Coast? If so, why?

I would recommend Amtrak for any East Coast travel if you’re looking for a laid-back and stress-free mode of transportation. There’s something so nostalgic and relaxing about train travel – a feeling I’ve never experienced when flying. I definitely plan on always looking into Amtrak for all my future trips, whether it’s for business or leisure.

You don’t have to be a NYC fashionista to enjoy the high-end luxury of Acela! Simply head to amtrak.com and treat yourself to a First Class experience. ✨
