We break down the top CA spots we can take you to on the Coast Starlight, Pacific Surfliner or Capitol Corridor, all routes that promise some sweet Instagram-worthy #AmtrakViews. All aboard and surfs up! ☀️

San Francisco: San Fran is famous for tasty fare. Check out popular restaurants like Whitechapel Gin Bar for a crafted cocktail, or Saigon Sandwich for an authentic Bánh mì Vietnamese sandwich. Don’t forget to stop by Choux for their famous French cream puffs. Check out the nation’s oldest Chinatown for unique stores and famous dim sum, then stop by the Legion of Honor for some art appreciation and stunning architecture. One of our favorite things to do in San Fran is a cable car ride through the city at sunset. No visit to San Fran is complete without a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge.

San Luis Obispo: Sample authentic Santa Maria-style BBQat Old SLO BBQ Co. — this popular eatery (the Cowboy Corn Pie and Tri-Tip Sandwich — with carmelized bacon! — are local favorites) or sip on some brews at SLO Brew featuring live salsa, bluegrass, or jazz. Hearst Castle featuring  lush gardens and exquisite art, this Great Gatsby-style structure is sure to amaze. End the day at Morro Bay while taking in sparkling blue waters, interesting rock formations and rugged coastline cliffs adorned with wildflowers.

Santa Barbara: Everyone knows about the Santa Barbara wine country scene, but have you heard of the growing Santa Barbara micro brewing culture? When you arrive at the Amtrak station in Santa Barbara, you’re near the Santa Barbara Brewing Company, The Brewhouse and Figueroa Mounting Brewing Co, local brews waiting for you. Just step off the train, find your way to one (or all three) and see what a beer inspired trip to Santa Barbara is really like. Don’t forget to stop by La Super-Rica Taqueria for tacos, and visit the top of the Court House for stunning ocean views.

Los Angeles: Bestia and Saint Martha continually top best places to eat in LA lists, while cold noodle soup found at Koreatown’s The Corner Place is not to be missed. Juice Served Here has fresh cold-pressed nectars loved by celebs and noncelebs alike. A visit to the Griffith Observatory will give you unparalleled views of the city, and Leo Carrillo State Park features tide pools with all sorts of sea creatures. Grand Central Market in the ever changing Downtown L.A. offers up everything from from carnitas tacos to artisanal ice cream.

San Diego: Head on over to Wet Stone Wine Bar, famous for its South American-inspired flavors — locals recommend the tapas and white sangria. Or check out The Milk Bar with delicious milkshakes, ice cream sandwiches and beer. The expansive San Diego Zoo Safari Park is sure to delight little ones, and Balboa Park has lush gardens, museums and performing arts exhibitions year round. End your day with a stroll around the historic Gaslamp Quarter, or settle down on Pacific Beach and watch the sun set.
