Amtrak Delivers Water to the People of Flint

On the evening of March 21, Amtrak delivered 2,800 cases of water bottles to the community of Flint, Michigan. The ongoing water crisis inspired Amtrak employees to donate and organize the logistics of this special delivery, from collecting donated water bottles to arranging the equipment for delivery.

We just had to do something,” said Oliver Childs, Senior Manager of System Operations.”I couldn’t imagine not having easy access to clean water. Two employees came to me with this great idea, and soon employees across the country got word and pitched in to help in a variety of ways.” The idea was born in Amtrak’s Consolidated National Operations Center (otherwise known as CNOC), Amtrak’s hub for monitoring train activity across the country. “The Amtrak family sends our best wishes to the community of Flint, and we were honored to have helped in any way possible,” concludes Oliver.
