Amtrak Service Levels Restored on Wednesday, Jan. 27

Amtrak thanks passengers and employees

January 26, 2016

4:00 p.m. ET

Effective Jan. 27, Amtrak will restore full schedules for Acela Express, Northeast Regional, other services between Boston and Washington D.C./Virginia and points to and from the Southeast and Midwest.

Amtrak is proud to have stood alone among transportation operators – airlines and others – in continuing to operate services on behalf of our customers throughout the storm in spite of the challenges posed by the weather for our employees to continue operations.

In a message sent to co-workers, thanking the team for extraordinary effort and service, Amtrak President & CEO Joe Boardman wrote: “Preparing for storms of this magnitude is a year-round obligation. Decisions made months and years ago to storm-harden our infrastructure and rolling stock, paid dividends during this historic storm. Yet not a wheel would have turned without a dedicated and committed workforce.”

We will review our performance and look for areas to further improve. We repeat our heartfelt thanks to our passengers, our team and their families.
