Solana Beach, California: This picturesque beach stop on the way to San Diego from Los Angeles features Cedros Design District, a nearby artisan community with one-of-a-kind shops. Don’t forget to grab a local brew at Belly Up Tavern, too. Cheers!

Wilmington, North Carolina
North Carolina is home to some of the best beach towns in the South. Check out the charming Carolina Beach in Wilmington, which was rated one of the 10 best boardwalks by Food and Wine Magazine. Here, you’ll learn to surf, play on the amusement rides and watch free movie screenings by the shore. If you are traveling mid-week you can take advantage of $5 kids fares with the purchase of a regular adult fare.
