Your Guide to Summer Festivals

Summertime is coming which means festival season is almost upon us. Say goodbye to feeling cooped up and say hello to playing outside. It doesn’t matter if you want to get sophisticated at a wine festival or indulge at the state fair, we can be your ride. Don’t wait to make memories this summer, plan your trip, book a ticket and enjoy your time away as soon as you step on the train.

May – Roots Picnic
If you’re more into beats than beaches than you need to kick off your summer in Philadelphia at the 8th annual Roots Picnic on May 30. Hosted by the legendary Roots band, the Roots Picnic is a one-day music festival at the Festival Pier that features hip hop and R&B musicians. This year’s line up includes The Weekend, Erykah Badu and naturally The Roots. Tickets to the festival and for the train go fast, so book early and let us do the driving. Amtrak Tip: Book today and you could save big when you take Acela to Philly for this trip.

June – Portland International Festival
“Getcha Beer Here!” Ok you can’t get it here, but you can taste tons of it in Portland at the Portland International Beerfest (PIB) the weekend of June 26 -28. Beer and wine festivals (see below) are great for #AmtrakAdventures because we handle all of that pesky driving stuff. Plan out your day to the festival on the ride there then nap on the way back. Grab a friend and make your trip to PIB a memorable and safe one. Amtrak Tip: Book 14-days in advance on this trip and you could save 25%.

July – California Wine Festival
SoCal, sunshine and sipping on wine, this is what summer is all about! At least that’s what the organizers and attendees of the California Wine Festival believe. Located in Santa Barbara, the 12th annual festival will feature international and regional wines that would impress any sommelier. Want to make the most out of your weekend trip? Book a seat on our Pacific Surfliner or Coast Starlight and enjoy Amtrak views of the ocean while we take you there.

August – The Great New York State Fair
Known to many as simply The Fair, The Great New York State Fair is a twelve day celebration of the best of New York State. Perfect for families or anyone ready to explore, a trip to Syracuse for this fair means fun for everyone. Need another reason to go? How about a tour of our Amtrak Exhibit Train. Mark your calendar because it will be parked at the fairgrounds August 27 -30.

We gave you four festivals to visit this summer but what did we miss? Tell us in the comment section below.
