January Events Only A Train Ride Away

The holidays are over but that doesn’t mean the fun stops. The new year is here and everybody loves a good Amtrak adventure. If you’re like us, you’re all set to plan your next fun weekend. Lucky for you, we pulled together some sweet events perfect for a quick weekend getaway or an extended stay. Enjoy!

Timbrrr! Winter Music Festival
Just because it’s January doesn’t mean you can’t get your jam on. Located in Leavenworth, WA this outdoor, two-day (January 9-10), winter music festival is perfect for any music lover. Get ready to make some memories, drink some hot toddies and rock out a bit. Then relax all the way home while we do all of the driving.

Cubs Convention
Cubbies fans get ready for some epic player/fan selfies because from January 16 – 18, it’s all about getting hyped for the 2015 baseball season. A new manager, some major trades and camaraderie with fellow fans — what a great way to spend a winter weekend. Our trains can take you there, but you’ll have to take care of the fandom.

Ice Skating in LA
SoCal might be void of real snow but that doesn’t mean ice skating isn’t do-able. Hit the rails with us for a day trip to the City of Angles and get in touch with your inner ice skater. Practice your triple axle or safely glide along holding the rail the entire time. You know what we always say, it’a about making some memories! Just plan ahead, most rinks close up shop by January 19.

Washington Auto Show
We pretty much never mention the word cars. You know we’re train people, rails, scenic views, it’s kind of our thing. But we can’t lie, seeing the latest and greatest from the auto industry is a nice way to spend a winter weekend. Our advice: get the best of both worlds! Hop on the train visit Washington, DC between January 23 – February 1 and enjoy the show.

Rock n’ Roll Marathon
Usually when we talk about things to do in New Orleans, it’s includes food and drink. This time around it’s all about fitness. On January 25, NOLA transforms into a running course when the Rock n’ Roll Marathon comes to town. Are you planning to head to Louisiana for the big race? Rest those legs before and after on the train.
