Gadget the Elf's Holiday Amtrak Adventure

GadgetJames

This year, we had a very special Santa’s helper with us: Gadget the Elf! Macy’s enlisted the help of Gadget in getting a record-breaking wish list to the North Pole, and Amtrak was there to help Gadget with his very important delivery.

Every year, Macy’s makes the holiday season extra bright for children by donating $1 to Make-A-Wish for every letter mailed to Santa at Macy’s or on macys.com. This year, Macy’s went a step further by setting out to break the world’s longest wish list to Santa. On December 18, Macy’s broke that record with 121,138 wishes to Santa. Gadget the Elf has been enlisted by Santa to deliver those letters to the North Pole.

But with Rudolph, Dancer, Dasher, and Prancer already busy, how was Gadget going to get to Santa’s workshop in time? Cue the train bells and Amtrak’s thousand horsepower sleigh!

After stopping by Good Morning America, Gadget started his multi-modal journey to the North Pole on Amtrak’s Lake Shore Limited from New York’s Penn Station to Chicago’s Union Station on December 18. Once on board, Gadget got his fill of Amtrak perks from a (bed)room with a view to tasty meals.

“So far, this is the best ride I’ve ever had since Santa’s sleigh!” Gadget exclaimed. “Amtrak’s sleeper car was so comfy, I slept like a baby penguin.”

We were proud to partner with Macy’s on this fun and philanthropic initiative, and wish Gadget all the best as he continues his journey.
