Dreaming of California sunshine with a glass of wine in your hand? We’ve got you covered. Located near Amtrak stops on the Pacific Surfliner, it’s never been easier to plan a wine weekend getaway or a full-on vacation to the West Coast.

First stop, scenic San Louis Obispo. Meze Wine Bar’s warm brick interior welcomes you as you sample wines by the glass and choose from thirty different kinds of cheeses. The flourless chocolate torte with bittersweet ganache and port wine sauce is a top customer pick. Only steps from the Amtrak station, a visit to this wine bar is the perfect way to set the scene for your California wine adventure.

Next, head over to quaint Solvang, a Danish-themed town where the windmills and clogs are a plenty. After taking in the unique architecture and local fare, head over to Wandering Dog Wine Bar. Offering wines from the Central Coast as well as from around the world, beer flights, artisan cheeses and gourmet chocolate truffles, this stop is a local favorite.

Continuing south, Deep Sea Tasting Room is only a quarter mile from the Amtrak stop in Santa Barbara. Featuring vino from local Conway Family Wines, the tasting room boasts an incredible 360 degree view of the Pacific from their outdoor patio on Stearns Wharf.  Be sure to take a stroll down State Street, and check out more amazing ocean views from the top of the Court House tower!

On the way to the Surfliner’s final destination of San Diego enjoy miles of sandy beaches that come right up to the tracks as you cruise down the coast. Once you’ve made it to America’s Finest City, head on over to Wet Stone Wine Bar, an establishment with South American-inspired flavors. Locals recommend the tapas and white sangria. End your day with a stroll around the historic Gaslamp Quarter, or settle down on Pacific Beach and watch the sun set.

Red or white? Why choose. There’s something for every wine lover in the Golden State and we’re happy to do the driving. Cheers!
