Coming into its 53rd year of celebrating all things folk, the Philadelphia Folk Festival is the longest-running festival of its kind in the country. The three-day festival, running August 14-17, has something for everybody including live music, hands-on crafts, family camping and goods for purchase from artisans from across the Northeast.

Lollapalooza
This urban festival is more than just a music festival, it is a cultural experience that takes place in the heart of Chi-Town, Grant Park. Headliners include Eminem, Outkast and Kings of Leon. All in all, more than 100 performers will hit the stage at this three-day, must-see, music festival happening July 31- August 2.

Burning Man
Taking place the week leading up to and including Labor Day, Burning Man is an annual event held in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Tens of thousands of participants gather to create what is known as Black Rock City, dedicated to celebrating community, self-expression, art and self-reliance. Although, the Black Rock Desert isn’t  easily accessible by public transportation, participants can take the train to Reno and then hop The Burner Express for an easy ride to the festival.

Oregon State Fair
Rated one of the top 10 state fairs by the Huffington Post, the Oregon State Fair is an 11 day festival from August 22 to September 1 for all ages and a great way to end summer on a high note. Take a spin on the carousel, stroll down the artisan village and sip home brews and locally made wine before taking in a concert on the main stage.
