Exhibit Train Travels to Topeka
Fully stocked with Amtrak merchandise and ready to make its third stop of the year, our Amtrak Exhibit Train is all set to head to the sunflower state. For our non-Jayhawks readers, we’re talking about Kansas! This weekend the Amtrak Exhibit Train and the Amtrak Veterans Locomotive will be at the Amtrak Topeka Station on April 12-13 from 10:00 a.m. – 4 pm.
“Topeka is rich with railroad history,” said Melissa Kershner, Visit Topeka’s marketing assistant. “Cyrus K. Holliday, a founder of Topeka, envisioned a railroad reaching all the way to Santa Fe, New Mexico. And although railroading has changed drastically since its heyday, Topeka remains the center of several vital operations. This weekend’s arrival of the Amtrak Exhibit Train will create a day where families can enjoy exploring something new but has a strong tie to the history of Topeka.”
In addition to saluting Topeka’s rail history, Exhibit Train visitors have the opportunity to learn about Amtrak’s past, present and future. Highlights of the train include seeing a Viewliner II Roomette, viewing historic dining menus and learning about our foundation as America’s Railroad.
Still not sure if you’re ready to see the Amtrak Exhibit Train? Did we mention this day of railroad fun is FREE? So grab the rail fans in your life and come explore! We’ll see you in Topeka!
