The Best Family Spots in San Antonio

Blogger Christina CokerFamily vacations are awesome, but they can get pricey. For affordable travel, you can escape the daily routine on Amtrak, where kids ages 2 – 12 ride half off and infants ride for free. Doesn’t get much better than that, huh?

And if you’re looking for a destination that won’t break the bank either, then take a trip on our Texas Eagle to San Antonio.

To help plan your trip check out Champagne Taste, a local San Antonio blog, for family friendly happenings. Voted among the top bloggers in San Antonio, Champagne Taste’s creator Christina Coker chatted with us about where she loves to go as a mom with a “champagne taste on a beer budget.”

What’s your favorite spot on the Riverwalk?
The Pearl Brewery. This more local, less touristy reach of the Riverwalk features a fab Saturday farmers market, some of the best and top-rated restaurants in town, hosts outdoor concerts and events, and is gorgeous!

What’s San Antonio’s best boutique?
I have two here, Apricot Lane and Langford Market. Both carry unique, stylish pieces, feature great sales and have killer jewelry selections!

Where’s your favorite downtown spot to grab breakfast?
A new restaurant called Market on Houston inside the Sheraton Gunter Hotel. With the largest bakery downtown, this new spot has fresh pastries, frittatas and even decadent items like bananas foster French toast. You must check them out.

Kids love sweets. What’s your favorite bakery?
Bakery Lorraine downtown on Grayson Street. You’d never find it on your own if you didn’t know about it. It’s down an old street with old houses and one happened to be turned into a bakery that turns out the most fantastic pastries and legit French macarons!
