From the Empire State to the Golden State

Sisters Selway, Raphael, Jognes and Marie began their journey in New York aboard our Lake Shore Limited but will end their cross-country trip  in California. The Sisters are headed west to teach religious classes. But before the schooling begins, they’ll  enjoy the scenic views that accompany every Amtrak long-distance train ride. From their perspective outside of the views, the best part of traveling by train are the fellow passengers, “You always meet great people on the train. Americans are always such nice people to be around!”

 

Amtrak challenged Brandon Stanton, the photographer behind Humans of New York, to leave New York and capture #AmtrakStories from across the country. For 31 days, we’ll share one new portrait and story each day on our blog in celebration of the customers who ride America’s Railroad.
