Train of Hope

Rev. Robert

Rev. Fr. Robert C. has a tradition of train travel, having ridden trains since he was 23 years old. “The treatment you get on the train is great,” he says. “Everyone is so helpful … they seat you, they don’t rush you. They’re just there for you.”

This trip has him traveling nearly the entire length of the East Coast, from his home in Winter Haven, Fla., to New York, to help people suffering from homelessness and addictions. His sister, Ann, was keeping him company while he waited for the train.

Amtrak challenged Brandon Stanton, the photographer behind Humans of New York, to leave New York and capture #AmtrakStories from across the country. For 31 days, we’ll share one new portrait and story each day on our blog in celebration of the customers who ride America’s Railroad.
