Soul food with a side of compassion, that’s what’s on the menu at Mrs. Butta Bean, located in the Amtrak served community of Hattiesburg, Miss. When high school sweethearts Demetira and Venson opened their doors in March 2013, they wanted customers to feel like they were at Grandma’s house. Today, as they serve travelers, locals and even the homeless, they proudly say, “It’s bigger than us. It’s not just a restaurant, it’s about living, loving and laughing.”
