His Father's Son

Daniel in Chicago

More than 20,000 employees across the country work every day to ensure that we can get you were you need to go 365 days a year. Daniel’s father was one of those employees for more than 30 years, starting as a janitor and working his way up to foreman. In honor of his father’s dedication to Amtrak, this soldier “always takes the train.” Here he waits outside Chicago’s Union Station, which serves as a hub for many of Amtrak’s long-distance trains, awaiting a train to his next posting.

Amtrak challenged Brandon Stanton, the photographer behind Humans of New York, to leave New York and capture #AmtrakStories from across the country. For 31 days, we’ll share one new portrait and story each day on our blog in celebration of the customers who ride America’s Railroad.
