The Pacific Surfliner travels between LA and San Diego multiple times a day and the San Joaquin connects the Bay Area and Bakersfield.

Lowering emissions and improving energy efficiency is what we’re all about at Amtrak. In fact, we’re even upgrading equipment with new, cleaner “GenSet” locomotives across the country. They’re expected to result in fuel savings of about 50 percent and a reduction in emissions of about 60 percent for each one replaced.
