Experience More Maine on May 11

Downeaster Train

Like shiny, brand-new things? So do we! That’s why we’re super excited for National Train Day on May 11 in Brunswick, Maine.

The stop only opened a few months ago (Nov. 1 to be exact) along the Downeaster route north of Boston. And already the community has created a great event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. complete with  kids’ activities and even an appearance by Town Manager Gary Brown!

So if you’re looking for an excuse to go to mid-coast Maine next month, here it is. Ride the new service, which is offering $5 per person one-way fares from Haverhill to Brunswick or points in-between for National Train Day weekend! Did we mention kids ride free this weekend  as well as every Sunday on the Downeaster?

May 11 will be the sixth annual National Train Day, when folks across the country will be celebrating why trains matter to them, their towns, and their communities. In the mean time, let us know why trains matter to you in the comments section below!
