Why do Trains Matter to You?

It's less than 24 hours until spring. Know what that means? That means the season for National Train Day is upon us! In fact National Train Day is May 11, so just 53 short days to go.

This year we’re gearing up for hundreds of great events at train stations across the country, but we need your help. We want to know why trains matter to you!

Here’s a quick video to get your creative juices going. You don’t have to be a member of the O’Jays to Love Trains, so share your tweets, videos, pins and posts with us between now and May 11, 2013!

I  think trains matter because of three reasons that I can think of, the first one is it is one of the best ways to get around the county.  and two in some areas of you can't get from there to a city.  And three it is a great way to meet people,

When I was a little girl, my Mom would occasionally go to North Carolina from DC Union Station to see her parents.  I remember being dressed in a little wool coat with matching bonnet and muffler and patent leather shoes with silk socks.  Standing there holding Mommies hand as she kissed Daddy good bye and him picking me up and swinging me back and forwards telling me to be a good girl.  That was more than 60 years ago.  But in my pre-teen and teens, I used to watch old b/w movies and there was one movie, I cannot remember the  name of it but the star was on a train and to keep from being nervous she was told to say with the rotation of the trains wheels, "hyna-ma-nouch, hyna-ma-nouch" and it calmed her to sleep.  That stayed with me for years and years.  I believe still, that the train is a romantic journey through the US.
